Great Turnout 
for Santa Pawz
 December 3 and 10 saw  a terrific turnout at the annual Santa Pawz photo shoot sponsored by PetsMart, with the help of AHS volunteers. Free T-shirts, tote bags, and pet food dishes were handed out as part of the holiday event.

One hundred thirty (130) orders were taken from customers who brought their furry friends to have their photo taken with Santa, played with great energy and joviality by Jamie Blunchi.  Barbara and Peter handled the Polaroid camera and film cartridges like seasoned pros,  with Brandi and Diana using squeaky toys to draw the attention of the pets towards the camera.

Thanks to PetsMart for the props, and thanks for a great job, everyone!
 
Krewe Des Chiens Rolls 

Despite cloudy gray skies and bone chilling temperatures in the 40s, the Krewe Des Chiens parade rolled through the streets of the Oil City on February 18.

 

 Scores of parade revelers, both four legged and two legged, turned out in costume for the Krewe’s Disco Dogs theme.

Open top convertibles carried the royal canine court, lead by Grand Marshal Gabe, a black laborador retriever owned by the late Dr. Donald Doiron of the Doiron-Plauche’ Veterinary Hospital of Lafayette.  Several area animal aid organizations, including AHS, also participated in the parade.

Founded in 1998, the Krewe des Chiens’ fundraising efforts benefit the shelters and animal aid organizations of Acadiana working towards the day where there will be NO MORE HOMELESS ANIMALS.
