Maggie
Maggie was a Maine Coon mix who was dumped at the local animal control center.  When no one stepped forward to claim her, AHS rescued her from a certain death sentence.

Maine Coon cats are known to be very affectionate, personable, and just overall simply GREAT feline companions to own. 

AHS has had tremendous success in finding homes for such cats quickly in the past, and we were already looking forward to finding the right home for Maggie.

Until she tested positive for Feline Leukemia.

We could not include her in the special needs group that had already been accepted by the Best Friends Sanctuary..they could only take so many at a time and there were no more openings....So we searched and inquired various other groups that specialized in special needs pets or FeLV+ cats.  Eventually, Maggie was accepted by the Home For Life sanctuary in Minnesota in December 2005.
