Facts and Fiction About FIV
(continued from Page 4)

With proper precautions and attention, we believe that FIV+ cats deserve every chance at a loving home and a good quality life just as their “normal” peers do.   Don’t let rumors, misconception or inaccurate information about FIV deter you from looking beyond these medical conditions and opening your heart to that special feline companion who just happens to be “different” – and give them a home to call their own.

Cats Rescued From Hoarder
On Sunday, February 25, 2007, volunteers from Acadiana Humane Society & Cat Ranch went to Baton Rouge to help APAWS with a hoarder situation. There were over 60 cats and several dogs in this home when APAWS first started rescuing these animals. They had until first thing Monday morning the 26th to remove all animals to shelters, other rescues, foster homes, and boarding facilities, as the local animal control was coming to remove and euthanize any remaining animals.  All of the hoarded animals were safely removed well before the deadline.
We are fostering nine of these cats – JB (pictured above), Snowbelle, Bacardi, MawMaw, Claudia, Benson, Aslan, Kori, and Natalie.  JB, Snowbelle, Bacardi, and Kori are now ready to find new homes and special people to adopt them, the others will be ready in a few more weeks.  Check them out at our Petfinders list of adoptable animals at our website, or call (337) 668-4484 for more information.
