Big Fix Rig A Huge Success
Wow, the month of March flew by fast!  We said goodbye to The Big Fix Rig on March 31, but not before a grand total of 982 cats were spayed or neutered in 18 days.

The brainchild of the Humane Alliance of Asheville, North Carolina, the Big Fix Rig is a 53 foot trailer-mobile stationary clinic, containing four surgical tables and three prep tables, and can accommodate 120+ feline sterilizations a day.

The PETCO Foundation, Bosack & Kruger Charitable Foundation, The ASPCA and the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) all have contributed to make The Big Fix Rig a viable solution to reducing feral cat populations.

Volunteers from AHS, Lafayette Animal Aid, Wild Cat Foundation, and other Acadiana area rescue organizations all helped out in various functions at the Rig such as registering cats for the surgeries, tagging and tracking their IDs, filling out various paperwork forms, and monitoring the cats in the recovery room after surgery. The Wild Cat Foundation also assisted many area residents in humanely trapping their feral and outdoor cats. (continued on page 2)
