| The Big Fix Rig
(continued from Page 1) “It was amazing, it was almost like an assembly line - but the veterinarian and her four veterinary assistants were very efficient that day.” said Diana. “ It was a rewarding experience for me, I learned a lot, and I would volunteer to help again.” |

| “We were very fortunate to have had this opportunity
to see the Big Fix Rig in operation and to help as volunteers.” Barbara
enthused. “Dr. Alexander and her staff were very passionate and competent
in doing the surgeries.” “The 37 that we brought were only
a portion of the total of what we could have brought.” Sue added.
“Imagine the numbers that could be done if the Big Fix Rig would come to
Lafayette.”
The good news is, with Lafayette Animal Aid and the Wild Cat Foundation as the lead organizations, plans are being coordinated to bring the Big Fix Rig to the Lafayette area sometime in Spring 2007. This could be the beginning of a permanent solution to help end pet overpopulation in Lafayette and the surrounding communities. So many pets are born from an unplanned pregnancy and they die prematurely, without given the chance for a loving home. With the Big Rig in the Acadiana area for two weeks to a month, low cost, possibly even free spay/neuters could be offered for rescue groups, feral cats as well as small animals in low income families, who want to do the right thing, but can't afford it. AHS will share further information as becomes available. To view the "Big Fix Rig" you can go to http://www.humanealliance.org.
