Even with the best of intentions, it is not easy to find homes for unwanted litters or unwanted pets. Taking them to the local animal shelter is not the answer either.  Roicy Duhon Animal Control is the ONLY animal control facility in a parish with a population of approximately 200,000 people.   They are a VERY small facility with very inadequate resources, and very little room for the huge intake of unwanted dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens that come through their doors.  The unfortunate result is that they are a high kill center. Euthanasia, which includes capture, holding & feeding, costs taxpayers between $30-$70 per animal!  Spaying and neutering also saves taxpayers money.
DO THE RIGHT THING.   DON’T LITTER.
SPAY AND NEUTER YOUR PETS!
You Can Make A Difference!  Help Us Help Them
We are a non-profit organization of compassionate animal lovers and volunteers who believe in making a difference by being the voices for those abandoned animals who cannot speak in their defense.  Our efforts are dedicated towards a future where there will be NO MORE HOMELESS PETS. We believe that such a future is possible through the community spay/neuter programs, abolishment of puppy mills, public education and the dissemination of information that encourages and empowers responsible pet ownership.  We abhor euthanasization of otherwise healthy animals as a means of population control.
We have no physical shelter, so we have opened our own homes to homeless dogs and cats, puppies and kittens, providing them with shelter, food, medical care and love, until they find their second chance and a new furever home.  When we have the room and the financial resources, we rescue and rehabilitate animals from the animal control shelter that would otherwise have been needlessly destroyed.  We test cats and kittens for FeLV/FIV, dogs for heartworms, insure they are vaccinated against common diseases and rabies.  We spay and neuter all the animals in our care before offering them up for adoption.  All are microchipped.
While we whole heartedly support the objectives of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, we do not receive funding from them either directly or indirectly.  We are not in any way affiliated with the National Humane Society either, therefore, we do not receive funding from them. We rely on the adoption fees, donations, fundraisers, grants, and organizations like the Krewe Des Chienes and PetsMart Charities,

But we count our greatest asset  community supporters like yourself.

The greatest thing you can possibly do is to give our foster animals a second chance by adopting them.  Ask us about our adoptable animals, we love to talk about our foster animals and we’d love to match you with a dog or a cat that would best suit your home and your lifestyle.
